pride comes before a fall
yeah, i fell down, from e bike, while going 2 get some breakfast from compass point. i admit i was reckless, going very fast, cos it was drizzling and there were a lot of ppl..i was anxious to reach compass asap.. took a turn 2 quickly, 2 sharply and landed on the ground.
there was this lady there, who saw me fall, and immediately sprang into action. she seemed to be very well-equipped - wet tissue, plaster, zam-bak, safety pin, guess she's a mum? i'm very grateful to her and her maid. :)
after they left and i was sitting there, trying 2 get my bearings back..must hv looked pathetic or smtg..this guy approached me and asked if i need plaster..how nice..i think it's qt true what they teach in psych - it's best to hv only 1 person ard when u need help, cos tt person will feel obliged to help..if there's a lot of ppl, each will be waiting for the other to help..
actually, i'm very thankful, i escaped largely unscathed. it could have been much much worse. i cld hv fallen on glass and cut myself badly. i cld hv knocked my head and gotten a concussion. i cld hv broken a few teeth. i cld hv broken a leg or an arm or two. i cld hv been crushed by the bike. but i din..thank god for tt! :)
yeah, just got some scratches on my knee and hand..i think i was more shocked than anything, nv expected myself 2 fall..sigh, just when i thot i'd thot of e perfect plan 2 convince mum to let me go night cycling..and got really dizzy - either due to losing 2 much blood (which wasnt qt likely, cos i din bleed badly), lack of breakfast or shock lah.. luckily, managed to get home w/o having 2 call mum to go fetch me..otherwise, i can really forget abt night cycling..
and i found out what a terrible 1st aider my brother is..he's horrible! 1st thing he did was to curse me and hope tt i might get tetanus (he din even know e name for it, just said some thing tt wld make my flesh rot!)
*editor's note: actually he meant 2 curse me with gangrene!!!*
then he took out his 1st aid manual and tried to find out what to do, since i was complaining about some sand stuck in my hand..so he found this "insect sting" and tried to draw e parallel between an insect sting and sand being stuck in the wound, despite my vehement protests! eventually, he did find e foreign object in wound page and wasnt much help lah..
told him 2 find a safety 4 me 2 try 2 get e sand out, he turned my room upside down, looking for it! at least he had e sense to try and sterilise it..then he said "oh, but we dun hv dettol.." he disappeared into the toilet and emerged minutes later, proclaiming tt he'd sterilised the safety pin, so i was like, "how did u do it?" he said using soap and water..wow, just what do they teach him in st john's ?? "shdnt you use fire?" ok, then he proceeded to do it, afterwhich he told me "the needle is burnt!" gosh..
he tried to get e sand out for me, but i just cldnt trust him enough..e way he positioned himself seemed unstable..then, while i was complaining tt e skin had sealed already, with the imaginery sand grain inside, he said "just rip it off!".."pain leh!"..following which, he joked, "i'll send my dog to bite it out for you!" gosh..
when i complained tt e wound was swelling, he went into e older bro's room and came out with some cream he was convinced was gd - antibacterial, some acid he learnt abt - yeah, gd, till i asked him 2 check e expiry date: dec 2004..then he told me 2 put tiger balm, luckily i tried on e not so serious patch..dun seem like e right thing 2 put on..decided to just follow jx's advice and put antiseptic cream..
gosh, i really dunno if my bro did more harm or gd..at least, made me laugh lah :)
