hmm hvn read the papers in the longest time! i guess news was just getting too depressing for me..always am surprised when any of those horoscopes things have a figment of truth in them, cos i always think they're written so generally and randomly..

anyway, was pretty surprised that someone actually starting telling me some rather personal stuff about herself. her reserved-ness and distance, i had always interpreted as unfriendliness. perhaps there is more to it. although yep, i don't quite think we've got the potential to go beyond that mere superficiality, but i appreciate the trust she had in me to tell me about her problems. so perhaps, i did find some way to connect? hah..it was just something circumstantial..

it's a reminder: to see beyond the surface and not interpret everything in a negative way. people have their own troubles and worries too. reasons why they do the things they do.

been having a bit too many of these "seeing people in a different light" scenarios lately..some good, some bad, mostly surprising. cognitive reappraisals, who says it's that difficult to change your mind about people? it's like new evidence is constantly coming in every day and some of it is perceived and evaluated..
