just spent a really long time composing a short birthday message in Japanese, turned out to be a single liner...

きょうはあなたの誕生日。お誕生日おめでとう!二十歳ですね!

took me quite some time to figure out how to type some of the words in Japanese. And as the dictionary kindly informed me, 20 years old is a big thing in Japan. It is the legal age when one gets the rights to vote, smoke and drink. Read more about Seijin Shiki and Seijin no Hi.

Oh and the reason why I was composing the birthday message?

☆ Happy Birthday, Toshi! ☆
