ok, hope i dun get killed or sued by straits times for e previous post..i mean it cant b helped, their archives is only 3 days..and from march 13, there will be NO more online straits times, unless u r willing 2 pay for it..which sure doesnt make sense 2 me, cos i do suscribe 2 their paper version..yup, 2day's paper actually had this pic of sumiko tan on e front cover and with these words - Sumiko Tan's Regret..oh man, i feel sorry 4 her..yet qt admirable? i rem reading her articles bemoaning and angst-ing over singlehood..i even cited her as an eg in my essay test for e internship - which might explain why i din get e job..but i digress..back 2 e pt, i used 2 hv 3 fav writers in e paper - sumiko tan, chua mui hoong and irene ng..yup i used 2 and still think tt it's so cool 2 hv ur own column in the papers and people read abt ur life and stuff - like a blog yah? over e yrs, they changed - changed their jobs, positions, looks, how they think, what they write about but i realised tt all of them are still single..just a thot lah, these r e ones i feel r successful journalists, so does this mean that successful women are more likely to stay single? think oliver lum..not sure if there's a direct correlation or any at all..cld b other attendant factors such as dedication to work and what not..
i used 2 want 2b a journalist, mayb i still do, but i'm not so sure anymore..and no, it's not what you think..it's not simply cos i'm scared i'll stay single..
yup, below is a quote from "The Man Just Don't Get It" by chua mui hoong, from 2day's paper, not available online but if you've got e papers, it's just below sumiko tan's article..
"Being equal does not mean being identical"
so powerful..sheesh, wish i'd thot of this when i was writing my ps essay last sem..did write smtg like tt but not so succint and so powerful..
